Dia Mirza’s beautiful and fulfilling day spent with Genesis Foundation

Delhi, November 21, 2015: Renowned Bollywood actor, Dia Mirza was announced as the ambassador of Genesis Foundation (GF) yesterday at a one-of-its-kind event 40 CEOs Sing for GF Kids, hosted by GF at Zorba in Delhi. Dia is now taking front stage for the Genesis Foundation as its Ambassador. The Foundation provides financial assistance for the treatment of under-privileged and orphaned children suffering from life-threatening diseases like cancer, thalassemia, cardiac disorders, organ transplant medication and extreme deformities.

Over the years, with her involvement in supporting meaningful causes, Dia has emerged as a celebrated humanitarian in the country, and has worked with several organizations working towards the betterment of the society.

Today, when she was in Delhi to attend 40 CEOs Sing for GF Kids, Dia had the opportunity to visit the hospital where a critically ill GF Kid, 6-year-old Umme Aiman is undergoing treatment. She met Umme who hails from Patna, and is suffering from a problem called Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) since birth and has four defects in the heart.  She had an open-heart surgery earlier this week. Dia really felt for the child and the family and said, “It wrenched my heart when I met the little girl and her family. It’s extremely disheartening to see that so many children have insufficient funds to overcome these critical illnesses. I am so happy to be associated with GF, which is supporting the cause of these children a chance to live so that they grow up and live their lives to their full potential.”

In order to raise awareness and resources to facilitate medical assistance to GF Kids, Genesis Foundation has created unusual and unique participative fundraising events involving music, art and food. Some of these events are Kasauli Rhythm & Blues Festival, Goa Rhythm & Blues Festival, CEOs Cook for GF Kids, Music for Life events, among others. GF is also the beneficiary of CEO’s Got Talent, produced by FremantleMedia.

It was an extremely packed day for Dia in the capital where she interacted with the doctors, families of the GF Kids undergoing treatment and GF volunteers. Overwhelmed with the entire experience, Dia said, “It was one of the most beautiful and fulfilling days for me. I was touched by the stories of little children and their families who try so hard to make thing work for their children. I am humbled with this opportunity to work with GF who work so hard to support these kids to whom such care would otherwise not be available.

Dia ended her day by attending GF’s fundraiser event, 40 CEOs Sing for GF Kids, where well-known business leaders from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, performed their favorite songs to support the medical treatment of 10 critically ill under-privileged children.
