IKEA Asia liaison
Vandana Verma, as IKEA Asia liaison and special program lead is the key liaison person between IKEA Foundation and the IKEA business. She is responsible for leading development programs that are aligned with IKEA Business’s sustainability concerns.
Vandana manages social projects that are aimed at improving the lives of millions of children and women in developing countries, with particular emphasis on Asia. She is keenly involved in fostering new and innovative thinking in development initiatives. Over the years she has been managing some of the largest global partnerships of the Foundation.
When Vandana Verma joined IKEA in 2001 as Project Leader, she was responsible for supporting IKEA Business teams in developing strategies for preventing child labour. In this process, she also set in motion the first social project on IKEA’s supply chain in South Asia.
Women Entrepreneurship has been a passion with Vandana and an integral part of her career. Prior to joining IKEA, she worked at International Labour Organization, the World Bank, GTZ and Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) on issues such as competitiveness of Indian small and medium enteprises, child labour and women’s entrepreneurship, in more than six Asian countries.
An economist by training, Vandana is an Indian who is based out of IF India office, in Delhi.
