“WE BELIEVE that every child has the right to live a healthy life, and that is why we started Genesis Foundation – an organisation which has, since then, evolved into a unique organisation.”

Prema founded Genesis PR in November 1992 when the public relations industry was at a nascent stage. Over the last two decades, the company, which was acquired by Burson-Marsteller in 2005-06, has mirrored the journey of India’s public relations and public affairs landscape. She has led the company through this entire formative period, with the backdrop of a rapidly changing business environment. Today, Genesis Burson-Marsteller is a full-service integrated communications firm, delivering innovative and integrated solutions across multiple geographies and practices. Prema is also a member of Burson-Marsteller’s recently formed APAC Senior Executive Leadership Team.

She is the Founder-President of the Public Relations Consultants Association of India (PRCAI), an organisation that encourages the sharing of best practices in the industry. Prema is also the President and Founding Member of the Public Affairs Forum of India (PAFI), which was created to bring the same level of collaboration and knowledge sharing in the public affairs realm.

Named by PRWeek among the 50 most influential people in PR in their Asia Power List 2014 and by the Impact magazine among the 50 most influential women in India in the field of media, marketing and advertising, Prema was invited as the only Indian on the global jury for the first ever PR Lions at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival 2009. She has also been part of the jury for the Holmes Report’s SABRE Awards as well as the PRWeek Awards. She was inducted into the ‘ICCO Hall of Fame’ in October 2005, the first Asian to receive this rare honour, joining a select group of global personalities.

As an entrepreneur, Prema is a Charter Member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), the world’s largest not-for-profit organisation promoting entrepreneurship. She is on the Advisory Council of Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders) India and a trustee of the Zariya Foundation, a Swiss non-profit that is spreading Mother Teresa’s message and is also raising funds to finance a motion picture made on her life and work. Prema is also a member of the Board of Advisors of SaveLIFE Foundation, an NGO focused on bystander care for emergency victims.

Inspired by Mother Teresa, Prema established the Genesis Foundation (http://www.genesis-foundation.net), a trust created to provide access to world-class medical care for abandoned and underprivileged children facing life-threatening ailments in the area of cancer, heart, thalassemia, organ failure and extreme deformities.
Genesis Foundation is a private trust. It facilitates critical medical care in the areas of heart, cancer, organ transplant and extreme deformities for abandoned and lesser privileged children with the intent and hope that such children may have an opportunity to lead a normal or near normal life and sustain themselves in the future.

Prema loves music and wishes she could have been a singer or a DJ. Outside of work, she loves being the perfect, warm home keeper. She loves baking and mixing cocktails.
